In high school it seemed like most kids pulled their hammys in the 100m. Lately I’ve seen this happen in the 400m more than anything else. I’m curious, what sprinting event do you think incurs the most hamstring injuries?

Definitely the 100m in my experience. I have seem a couple freak pulls occur as an athlete was trying to cut in on indoor 400m but otherwise it’s almost always been the short dashes.

In all of my experiences, it’s actually been the 200m. As a sophomore in college, I pulled my hamstring coming off the curve. (For what it’s worth, I was in the lead, had made up the stagger on Darvis Patton when he was at Garden City Comm. Coll.)

Two years ago, my best sprinter pulled her hamstring coming off the curve of a 200m.

And then of course, Tyson Gay’s injury at last years Trials.
