Too much flexibility?

    Recently, I’ve spent a lot of my own training time in a collegiate weight room. I enjoy it because it gives me the opportunity to see some good, new things and some not-so-good things (i.e. Bosu ball power cleans… yikes). One thing I have consistently noticed is there are the same few people ALWAYS working on flexibility. They use anything they can get their hands on to facilitate stretching –

    I’ve been seeing this a lot lately at the track I go to. There is a group of guys in their 20’s or 30’s…they get to the track, spend 10 minutes doing a general warmup, 20 minutes static stretching, 30 minute speed session, followed by 20 minutes static stretching. It pains me on several levels.
