Be Honest
The most painful race

400 hurdles, no brainer or pole vault… gotta have a few screws loose for that one.

I have tried the 200, 300, 400 and 3200XC and the most painful was the 400, specially if you aren’t really trained to cope with the lactate. The aftermath is terrible. It’s a literal pain in the ass. Anyway the 3000XC also hurts a lot but the intensity ain’t as high as in the 400, only that it lasts longer and is a real nightmare / self punishment. From an aerobic activity you will recover much faster than from a lactic one.
Anyway when trained the 400 doesn’t hurt that much, so I wonder what the 800 feels like, but I have no intentions of getting rid off the doubt during the rest of my life.Pole Vault hurts? I am intrigued, what is it like?
When you land off the matt for sure.

800 easily.
I never ran the 800 Freshman year and I thought the 400 was killer. Now the 400 is more like a break for me when comparing it to a well-ran 800.

Ultra distance running? 😀

Running a race you haven’t trained for.

Running a mile is never harder than running a 100/200/400 in my opinion.
If you trained to run sprints and then run a mile race and actually run it with the intention of doing well it will be harder than running those sprints. The reverse is also true. Besides there are many definitions of what hard is, if you train correctly the events you specialize at should become easier to do as the season progresses, ie it becomes less painful to complete the race in a competent manner.

Anyone who thinks that it’s not the 800 meter has never run a fast half mile.

I voted for the 800m. But this was me just choosing the events you had listed. I think the 400H has to be right there with the 800m for most painful/hardest event in T & F.
