    As August 15th comes around some college soccer players are scrambling to get in shape for that dreaded beep test. I have been using Shaun Austin’s Yo-Yo app plus speakers and of course Freelap’s Timing System. So far the aerobic engine is looking very good because of the focus on speed and very little RSA. Repeat sprint ability is only valuable if you can make the play to begin with efficiently

    Thanks for the link and I had a couple of questions:

    Can you expand on the “focus on speed?”

    Is there a volume threshold for jogging and the dampening of elastic qualities?

    Richard,

    Jogging is a slow velocity with long ground contacts….I believe in slow velocity with short front side contacts- makes transition faster. As for focusing on speed testing 2-3 times a year 10m and 30m is a good start to see what direction people are going in!
