With the buzzword algorithm being used a little too interchangeably, the best coping method with dealing with vagueness is to ask for the formula or software to get clarity. My algorithms are very simple, because if the people you work with don’t understand the concepts, such as the athletes, numbers or hierarchies of function will not make an impact. Sharing information is going to be a big part of coaching down the road as GMs and Athletic Directors want the right evidence of job performance. Track and Field and Swimming coaches seem to be open in just showing workouts, yet strength and conditioning coaches in general (stereotypical sorry) don’t share as much, especially the ones with 2 hour powerpoint slides. Not only seeing on paper what is going on, seeing all of the athletes train, not just the inherited star, must accompany the workouts if possible. I will start doing this next week showing simply sharing the daily reality.
