The battle of fourth and inches is a classic part of football. While the sport is catering towards a more passing style game, the Giants were clearly victorious in the trenches with the win over the Falcons. I got a lot of emails and texts yesterday asking what I felt about the game with the raw size and power at line. I think it was a good subject to talk about because it was clear that at the end of the day, who provided more power at the line? How did they do it? If I was a football coach and thinking about what my strength and conditioning coach does, would I be able to make decisions based on their training and performance? Would teams go for it on 4 and short knowing the other team uses methods that don’t provide power?
