Core Training Reality

I have spent a lot of money on continuing education over the last 10 years and I would say that most of it was a waste of time. For young coaches I would tell them to save their money and follow some simple rules. Don’t do contraindicative exercises to healthy people. Do a well rounded program with great technique. Spend less time on your back and less time isometrically. Visit programs with great performance scores with extremely low injury rates. Sports activities requires ballistic and very precise and demanding coordinative abilities that can’t be replicated in the weight room or physio table. The more new exercises I see to prepare the core, the more I realize that resources are robbing the movements that one is preparing for. Overtraining does happen, but most injuries come from lack of preparation.
