Testing in the Real World

When do you emphasize testing environments? Sometimes coaches train without reduction of work or sometimes people do a mini taper to gage improvements. So long as you have good interpretation of context within your own system it doesn’t matter. Attached is one soccer team’s GPP/SPP program that shows the speed/power intensity of effort expected in each microcycle with when they tested joint function (PCA), Body Composition (BC), Speed and Jump Power (S) and weight room (T) best performances in the back squat done every 5 weeks. I don’t do body composition very much but coaches in team based sports where body composition is more problematic is a good idea. So long as people make measurable improvements, without artificially reducing volumes to score better, you are on the right track.
