What could Usain Bolt do in the _________________?

Yesterday, Usain made easy work of a class field at the Zurich Weltklasse meet. He ran a 9.81 and if not for his own stratospheric standards the time would be amazing. This speaks to the fact that the guy has pretty much changed short sprinting as we know it. His dominance is so great in fact that both he and others are speaking of adding new events to his resume. The long jump and the 400m are the most commonly discussed events. But why stop there? What if we gave Usain 1 year of training with a solid event coach….what do you think Usain could do in the following events:

  • 110m Hurdles
  • 400m
  • 400m Hurdles
  • 800m
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • High Jump
  • Decathlon

I’ve always found it fascinating when the best athletes in the sport venture out and do ‘off events.’ Most of the time these forays in to other events aren’t world class performances but they’re interesting nonetheless. Could Usain be world class in any of these events in 1 year? I’d guess the 400m would be the easiest event to conquer but what about the others. Could he dominate any of the others like he’s currently dominating the 100m and 200m? Post thoughts and guesstimated performances to the forum.
