Michael Phelps

I just saw the latest cover of Sports Illustrated and it made me feel like I needed to write a quick post. With all our discussion on ‘all sports not being created equal‘ and it’s particular focus on the sport of swimming, I think it’s important to point out one thing. If you have as many medals as Phelps has, regardless of what sport you play, you are one BAMF. In fact, he ranks right up there with Carl Lewis, Michael Jordan and Jules Winnfield as all time greats in the BAMF Hall of Fame.

Don’t worry, Sergei, Paavo, JJK and company are already in there too. Phelps just takes a seat with the greats. What’s more, he’s likely to go to London in 2012 and win another 4-5 gold medals. That would bring his total to 2x what the next highest Olympian has. That’s astounding. Here’s a final pat on the back to Michael Phelps.
