Track Makes the Best Athletes

I just checked out this photo article from Fox Sports. In it, they put out their top 10 list of 2 sport (really multi-sport since some on the list did 3+ sports) athletes of all time. What’s the common denominator of the over-whelming majority on that list? They excelled at track. In fact, 8 out of the 10 to make the list were track stars at some level and 4 of the 10 were Olympic Gold medalists in Track. I counted 8 because even though the article doesn’t mention any track association with Bo Jackson he ran track at Auburn and was the Alabama high school state champ in the decathlon. Personally, I would have liked to have seen Hershel Walker on the list since in addition to being an NFL all-time great running back, he was also a track mega stud while at Georgia (10.22 for 100m) and a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Bobsled team that took 7th.
