ELITETRACK v 5.1

ELITETRACK v.5.1 was released in late May 2008. This release was a minor upgrade of ELITETRACK. Several new additions were made to the site. All of these updates were focused on increasing the user experience of the front page. A rotating flash banner with member submitted pictures was added to the main page. Blog posting on the main was also expanded to include complete blog posts rather than just the summaries that were included in the previous version. Not only did this make the main page more readable but it also allowed for pictures to make a return to the main page. The final addition to the site was the inclusion of a youtube video widget to the sidebar. This widget showcased videos from the HPCsport youtube video library.

ELITETRACK v 5.0

ELITETRACK v.5.0 was released in January 2008. This release was a major overhaul of ELITETRACK. The site underwent a platform migration from Joomla content management system to ExpressionEngine content management system. This allowed for a much more powerful integration of the entire site and more easily modifiable templating. As a result, discussion of articles on the forum was automatically generated and further integration of the blog postings and forum was made possible. The searchability of the site was also improved. Due to the powerful CMS, searching on both the forum and the main page was much more robust and included searching of the articles, blog posts, and latest news from one consolidated search bar. An improved article database that kept all previous categories was retained but better article count, visual interaction, and dropdown menu searching was added. Because the user interface of the previous version was so successful, the basic interface was only altered slightly to give a fresher, cleaner look while still maintaining the content driven appeal of the previous version. On the last day v. 5.0, there were 215 articles, 908 blog posts, 1,272 registered members, and 57,164 total forum posts.

ELITETRACK v 4.5

ELITETRACK v.4.5 was released in February 2007. This version featured several small changes to enhance the user experience. A meta-search cloud of the most commonly searched keywords was included directly under the search window. This feature enhances the overall user-experience and serves to drive new traffic to the site by making it more search engine friendly. An improved FAQ setup was also implemented which makes finding answers to frequently asked questions more easy and also permits user feedback. Additionally, 'favorite tagging' was added to the site for the first time. This feature enables users to 'tag' blog entries to social networking sites such as digg.com, del.icio.us, and furl.com. ELITETRACK 4.5 finished its long run in December 2007 with 1089 members (inactive members were purged), 54043 forum posts, 5143 forum topics, 208 articles, and 808 blog posts.

ELITETRACK v 4.2

ELITETRACK v.4.2 was released in October 2006. This version featured several small changes to enhance the user experience. A new more secure commenting system was implemented with an improved look and better security against spam attacks. Also, the old standalone flashchat was updated to a new AJAX chat. The new chat room provides a smoother more integrated user interface while reducing server load. Additionally, automatic discussion of blog entries on the forum was set up for the first time through the use of a new 'Forum Discussion' button that automatically started forum discussions directly from the blog entries. ELITETRACK v 4.2 ended its run with 202 articles and the forum had 2381 members and over 46,531 posts.

ELITETRACK v 4.0

ELITETRACK v.4.0 was released in August 2006. The main purpose of this upgrade was to create faster load times and make a more content oriented front page. The graphics on the site were toned back in favor of faster load times and less server load. The overall look of the site became much cleaner and more content driven. This version was the first since ELITETRACK's initial release to not use the customized flash interface that was so prominent in the previous two versions of the site. At its final date prior to the upgrade ELITETRACK v. 4.0 contained 186 articles and the forum had 2100 members and over 39,450 posts.

ELITETRACK v 3.3

The second update of ELITETRACK v.3.0 was released in the middle of August 2005. The main feature of this upgrade is the addition of a new horizontally oriented dropdown flash menu system which allowed users to better search all of the great content on the site. This greatly improved usability because it allowed users to search the article database more easily from the main menu. Previously, users could only do so by going directly to the article database. It also added a cool interactivity to the site that wasn't present prior to the new menu. At its final date prior to the upgrade ELITETRACK v 3.3 contained 176 articles and the forum had 2010 members and over 37,500 posts.

ELITETRACK v 3.1

The second version of ELITETRACK v.3.0 was released only 2 weeks after v. 3.0. This update featured a switch from XMB forum software to SMF software. SMF was a much more powerful forum platform that greatly enhanced the messageboard experience. Also, the forum, main page, and chat room were fully integrated for the first time. This meant a user could sign in from any location on the site and be signed in to all other parts of the site. In addition to these improvements, a blog / journal was added to the main page of the site. At its final date prior to the upgrade ELITETRACK v 3.1 contained 170 articles and the forum had 1150 members and over 27,500 posts.

ELITETRACK v 3.0

The third version of ELITETRACK was released in June 2005. This release was a major overhaul of ELITETRACK. The user interface was altered to facilitate ease of use and make the site more secure. The main upgrade was a move from html hard coding to the use of a content management system for the first time. This move was to make updating the site easier. Also, a fully searchable database of all of the articles on ELITETRACK was added. The new database allowed users to search through all of the articles using various parameters. Before being upgraded to v 3.1, this version of ELITETRACK had 984 members and 25,470 posts.

ELITETRACK v 2.05

The second version of ELITETRACK received some minor upgrades in April 2004. A new more user-friendly chat interface was installed and the content found in the "news" section of the previous version was split up into an "announcements" section and a "new articles" section. The "new articles" section featured a scrolling list of the latest additions to the ELITETRACK article archive. This was a user-requested feature that made it easier for users to find newly added articles to the growing article database. At its final day of being online, ELITETRACK v 2.05 contained over 150 articles and the forum had 970 members and over 24,500 posts.

ELITETRACK v 2.0

ELITETRACK received its first major upgrade in February 2004. Major cosmetic and user interface changes were made. For the first time, Macromedia Flash became an integral part of the site with a new Flash intro and an interactive Flash banner for the main page. The right side buttons of the previous editions were replaced by a drop-down articles menu. The "new articles" page was also eliminated and replaced by a "news" section on the main page to alert readers of news and article additions. Finally, the original search engine was upgraded to a Google search engine. ELITETRACK v 2.0 contained 130 articles and over 7,800 messageboard posts.

ELITETRACK v 1.2

ELITETRACK received its second upgrade in summer 2003. Some minor cosmetic changes were made to the main site and the messageboard underwent a huge upgrade. Over 40 hacks were installed to make the messageboard more user-friendly. Perhaps as a result, the messageboard thrived and membership grew to over 350. Of all the improvements though, the most important was one which went largely unseen. That is, ELITETRACK v 1.2 was moved to a new and more stable host which eliminated many of the issues which plagued the first upgrade. At the end of its run, ELITETRACK v 1.2 contained 111 articles and almost 5,500 messageboard posts.

ELITETRACK v 1.1

ELITETRACK received its first upgrade in winter 2002. While no cosmetic changes were made to the site, several upgrades were made. Most notable of these was the conversion of all articles into pdf format. This made for a standard article format and a more professional feel. In addition to this, a search engine was installed and a store was added. To make finding newly posted articles easier to find, a "new articles" page was made available from the main page. Because of a hosting problem the original messageboard and all of its messages were lost; however, a surge in membership coincided with the installation of the new messageboard and membership bounced back to over 150. ELITETRACK v 1.1 topped out at 91 articles.

ELITETRACK v 1.0

The first ELITETRACK was uploaded on June 10th of 2002. The site featured a flash intro, a chat room, site statistics, a messageboard, and a guestbook in addition to the articles section. This version of ELITETRACK was completely consisted of manually generated HTML coding. As a result, the user interface was pretty simple and the interactivity was very limited like many websites from this time. This earliest version of ELITETRACK contained only 16 articles at its initial upload but eventually grew to have 44 articles before the update to v 1.1. At this time, the messageboard was in its infancy and had less than 30 members.
